| An organisation like the Trust could not exist
without the dedication and hard work of its volunteers. The board of
Directors are volunteers, the windmill guides are volunteers, the Forge
Museum relies on volunteers. Chancellor Gordon Brown designated 2005 as the Year
of the Volunteer, a year-long celebration of the amazing work volunteers
do and to encourage more volunteering – especially individuals from
marginalised groups and young people.
In the spirit of the Year of the Volunteer, the Trust and BEAMS offices were
joined in the spring by two more young volunteers who are both interested in
working with the historic environment and learning about how it is
currently protected and managed.
